The foundation's board of directors evaluated suitable projects in accordance with the rules of procedure (stipulated 10.10.2019) and worked on or supported the following projects in the 2020 financial year:

Project 1: Newborn hearing screening in Kyrgyzstan
The Lehnhardt Foundation in Auggen has been supporting hard of hearing / deaf children, especially in ex-USSR countries, with the delivery / operation of cochlear implants for years. The PLACE Foundation supports this project with expertise in hearing screening, equipment procurement and donation of money.

Hearing screening & diagnosis, situation in Bishkek 2020:

One of the goals of the PLACE Foundation for 2020 was to apply, together with the Lehnhardt Foundation, for funding from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the introduction of comprehensive hearing screening in Kyrgyzstan. The project has been approved in December 2020 and will run from February 2021 subsidized with approx. € 49,000.

In 2020 the aim was to equip, advise and train the ENT-department of the leading maternity hospital in the capital Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) with suitable devices and diagnostic aids before the introduction of screening.

A portable ABR / ASSR diagnostic device with a new price of approx. € 9000 was donated jointly by Monsana AG / Lehnhardt Foundation and Ing. Büro Zoth and delivered to the clinic in Kyrgyzstan. (see attachments).
The training took place online by the engineering office Zoth and was free of charge.
This project will continue in the coming years.

Project 2: Educational Project - School Equipment Tanzania
PC equipment for Laele-Secondary School in Sumbawanga (Tanzania) to enable training on / via the Internet.

This project involves equipping a secondary school with the goal to get children access to computers and the Internet at school level.
Since the school is located in one of the poorest regions of Tanzania, this donation is of big help in order that children are able to follow a lesson during COVID lockdown.

In addition to the laptops, the PC equipment includes a projector, a router and a laser printer. Sustainability is guaranteed by means of an annual maintenance service.
Our foundation was contacted via the local bishop Beatus Urassa, who also guarantees the on-site inspection.
The project was carried out jointly with the in Belgium-based organization 'Close-the-Gap' . 'Close-the-Gap' supports Africa school projects since decades refurbishing used carefully
PCs and computer equipment. The PC’S used are on average no older than 3 years, in first-class condition, checked, equipped with the latest firmware / software and with a guarantee.

Project 3: Foundation aid for SOS Children's Villages
In cooperation with the SOS Children's Villages (project goal inclusion), two children's villages were subsidized:
- SOS Children's Village San Ignacio, Paraquay (project goal inclusion)

- SOS KinderDorf El Alto, Bolivia (project goal education instead of child labor)

Costs:
The costs in 2020 mainly consisted transport costs as the work of the two board members is voluntary.
All payments were checked, assessed and instructed by TSB Treuhand.

Outlook for 2021:
The projects mentioned are expected to continue in 2021.Since the foundation is particularly keen to support educational institutions for children on all continents, a project to build a secondary girls' school in rural Tanzania (Mkata) is being considered.
